The Sacral, the second Chakra* in the seven main chakra system, is known as Svādhiṣṭhāna; the chakra of creativity and flow, feelings and emotions, sensuality and fluidity. Located on the lower abdomen between the belly button and the pubic bone, it is one’s sacred home. It governs the ability to feel and express our emotions, to experience pleasure and develop healthy sexual boundaries. Imbalance in this chakra may result in symptoms such as restricted movements physically and mentally, inability to enjoy life’s pleasure, emotional dependence, lack of passion, poor social skills; in severe cases, obsessive attachments and poor boundaries such as addiction to sex or drugs, repressed or excessive sex energy.

*Chakras are “wheels of energy throughout the body”. They are energy centers within the human body that help to regulate all its processes, from organ function to the immune system and emotions. It can be simply activated by inhaling the scent of essential oils in the form of subtle aromatherapy.

Balancing the Sacral is as simple as connecting to your senses by adapting to your sensory experiences and allow the freedom of expression. Meditate on the colour orange with the affirmation of “I can speak the language of emotion. I am worthy of love and pleasure. I feel my abundance with every breath I take”, and practice a simple breathing exercise using selected essential oils or synergetic blend.
